A Reffin’ Brilliant way to start the year for Student Officials!

Have you taken part in one of our Reffin Brilliant officiating courses this year or are you a student official for your college or university? Are you interested in learning what it takes to become a top official? We have the opportunity just for you!

Already this year, seven sports have been involved in our Reffin’ Brilliant programme and over 130 students have taken the opportunity to become officials across these sports. Since the launch of  the programme in 2011, Reffin’ Brilliant delivers a fun and efficient way of students gaining qualifications that enable them to officiate competitive sport going on across institutions.

After gaining an award through the programme, students often have questions on the challenges and opportunities faced going forwards in their officiating journey. As a result, SSS, alongside Tayside and Fife institutions are giving students the chance to raise questions, share experiences and plan their next steps through a Reffin’ Brilliant Seminar.

Importantly, the evening will involve the opportunity to chat and learn from inspirational national and international officials who are, or have been students themselves and have a wealth of experience in officiating at a world class level. This includes Dave Cormie, an international volleyball referee and Jen Wither, Heriot Watt’s current sport’s president who has officiated in different roles within national and international rugby.

When? Thursday 1st February 2018, 18:00-20.30

Where? The Lecture Room, Institute for Sport and Exercise, University of Dundee

Who?  The evening is open to anyone who has been on a reffin’ brilliant course or officiates for their institution across Scotland.

Registration? Sign up for the evening is available through this link.

For further information or questions on the event please contact SSS regional development coordinator Mari-Claire Kay: mari-claire@scottishstudentsport.com

If becoming an international official is something in your sights or you want to make the most of your time officiating at university, the event is a great opportunity to talk to like-minded officials and be inspired to reach your officiating dreams.

We look forward to seeing you there!
