Seven New Partnerships Signed for Student Sport in Scotland

Scottish Student Sport (SSS) is proud to announce the signing of new formal partnerships with our friends and colleagues at seven Scottish Governing Bodies for Sport (SGBs).

As an integral part of the SSS 2017-2021 strategy, we are committed to building better and stronger partnerships with SGBs to provide the best sporting experience for students across Scotland.

Through close collaboration with our new SGBs partners in the coming season we will further strengthen the existing student sport offer via increased participation opportunities, high-quality competitions, and life-enhancing professional development for students across Scotland whilst they pursue their education.

Together we will be working with

  • Basketball Scotland
  • Scottish Curling
  • Scottish Handball Association
  • Scottish Rowing
  • Scottish Rugby
  • Scottish Swimming
  • Tennis Scotland

The specific focus of each agreement has been tailored to support key areas including improving the competition offer, enhancing member benefits, building robust student club structures, as well as advancing the workforce for each sport.

Commenting on the new suite of partnership agreements, Stew Fowlie, Chief Operating Officer at SSS said

“I am delighted to celebrate our latest wave of governing body partnerships – most especially as they represent new relationships in some of Scotland’s most prominent sports. It is central to our wider strategy to be working with the experts in each sport, and crucially doing so with the very clear aim of improving the offer for students. I am looking forward to seeing each partnership flourish over the coming twelve months as we continue to build a world class system for student sport.”
