‘Glasgee’, ‘Dunburgh’, and ‘Edingow’, Battle It Out!

Our #ScotStuKarate chair Liz Rogers gives us the lowdown on the recent Karate Team Cup!

The annual Scottish Student Karate Team Cup took place on the 19th November, with entries from Dundee, Edinburgh Shotokan, Edinburgh Shukokai and Glasgow taking part.

The competition kicked off with Team Kata, where Dundee A reclaimed their Gold title, beating both Dundee B and Edinburgh Shotokan.

The Beginners Team Kumite (fighting) events followed, with wins for Edinburgh Shotokan’s women’s team and Dundee’s men’s team.

Dundee won the overall competition, with Edinburgh Shotokan taking second place, and Glasgow placing third.

The day finished on a friendly note with teams from different clubs merging to create the best names we have heard to date. ‘Dunnow’, ‘Glasburgh’, ‘Edingow’, ‘Glasgee’, ‘Dunburgh’ and ‘Edinee’, were some of the names battling it out to round up the day.

We hope everyone enjoyed the day and is ready to do Scotland proud at BUCS in February!
