SSS Sign ASH Scotland Charter for a Tobacco-Free Generation

Scottish Student Sport have signed ASH Scotland’s Charter for a Tobacco-free Generation. Find out more about the Charter and what it aims to achieve!

Scottish Student Sport are delighted to announce that we have signed ASH Scotland’s Charter for a Tobacco-free Generation.

SSS have joined the growing list of over 380 organisations who have pledged their support to help reduce the harm caused by smoking and deliver a tobacco-free generation by 2034.

The aim of Scotland’s Charter for a Tobacco-free Generation is to inspire organisations to take action to reduce the harm caused by tobacco, with a goal of creating a tobacco-free generation with fewer than 5% of adults smoking by 2034.

By signing the Charter SSS are pledging our support to helping achieve the aims of the charter. Through working with ASH Scotland on the Healthy Body Healthy Mind project, we have set out our own actions to support the charter and will continue to support Scottish institutions in their bid to achieve a smoke-free campus.

  • We are committed to supporting our members to deliver the key messages of the ill effects of tobacco and the need for clean campuses.
  • We are committed to living our values as an organisation and working to achieve a healthier, greener, smoke-free and sustainable environment is an aspiration of ours.
  • We are committed to ensuring positive mental and physical wellbeing within our staff team and the wider student sporting network. We recently pledged our support to the SAMH Charter for Mental Health and in response to the re-launch of Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, SSS have committed to celebrating the positive work we do at SSS to look after one another’s mental health.
