Swim like the boat sunk. Bike like you stole it. Run for your life.
Who plays? Triathlon is growing in popularity amongst the student population with more student clubs affiliating to Triathlon Scotland each year and the number of student specific events being hosted growing year on year.
What is there?
There will be three Scottish Student Triathlon Championships in each academic year, one Aquathlon, one Duathlon and one Triathlon.
In addition to this, the clubs run a variety of events across the calendar:
Aberdeen University Triathlon Club host an Aquathlon each Spring and Autumn.
Edinburgh University Triathlon Club host a Sprint Triathlon in Tranent late March every year and a closed road Duathlon in November.
St Andrews University Triathlon Club host a Sprint Triathlon in mid-April and a Duathlon in October.
Glasgow University Triathlon Club host an open water aquathlon in May.
In addition to these student events, you can also enter any race you see on our calendar that takes your fancy. Simply enter under the name of your student triathlon club, get some training in and go race!
And for those looking to experience competing alongside other students from around the UK, British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) offer duathlon, sprint and standard distance championships. For more detail on these events, liaise with your institution triathlon club or sports union.
Finally, if you have your sights set on representing your country in triathlon, check out our Age Group Racing pages where you can learn about age groupings, how to gain selection and where the event qualilfiers are due to take place.
When does all this happen? All the events are generally on the weekends and spaced throughout the course of the academic year.
