Cross Country Championships

Garscube Sports Complex, Glasgow

The Scottish Student Cross Country Championships will be comprised of two races: Women’s race (+/- 6km) and a Men’s race (+/-9km). Both races will use the same 3km loop.

Placings at this race will determine the team that will compete in the Holyrood Inter-district XC on the 18th January 2018, with the top 8 in both races guaranteed a place on the SSS team.

Venue: Garscube Sports Complex, Glasgow

Date: Sunday 5th November

Time: Registration opens at 0900. Start times are 1100 for the Women’s race and 1145 for the Men’s race

Cost: £7 per athlete. Students and Clubs can pay via BACS or Card using this system. Invoices must be discussed with your Sports Union.

Eligibility: Entrants must be currently matriculated and be able to present a student card if requested at registration

To Enter: Please click HERE to enter using our new online entry system. Please note: you will be asked to register on the system before you are able to enter. Simply select the number of athletes you wish to enter from the dropdown list. You will be asked to complete an entry form before completing your booking. Deadline for entries is 1st November 2017.

Race Information: Within each race is an individual competition and team competition. Team score is based upon the 4 best placed athletes in the men’s race and 3 best placed athletes in the women’s race from each institution. The team with the lowest aggregate placing score wins, as per Scottish athletics regulations. The overall institution winner’s will be decided upon the combined placing of both the Men’s and Women’s teams.

Kit: Athletes are required to wear the appropriate colours and garments of their university at this event, as outlined by Scottish Athletics regulations and/or the regulations of their institution. If the Institution does not have an established club and/or colour, then clothing is at the discretion of the athlete. All clothing should be appropriate for the event and conditions.

Footwear: Cross country spikes (9mm) or trail shoes with an aggressive tread are recommended

Medals: Medals for top 3 in each race and medals for all team members of top 3 teams.
