Fencing Individual Championships

SS Fencing are delighted to return of the Individuals 2021-22 in the fantastic venue at University of Edinburgh! A fencing event open to any fencer currently studying at university or further education college in Scotland. Many thanks to Scottish Fencing for providing use of their equipment for this event.

Eligibility: Open to any fencer currently studying at university or college. Fencers must hold and in-date Recreational or Full Licence from British Fencing, and student card, which they must show at check-in. Please note fencers cannot compete in BOTH Men’s Foil and Men’s Sabre OR both Women’s Foil and Women’s Epee due to the logistics of the competition

Costs: £25 for one weapon and £32 for two weapons. Please note fencers cannot compete in BOTH Men’s Foil and Men’s Sabre OR both Women’s Foil and Women’s Epee due to the logistics of the competition

Entry Payment: You will be able to pay by card on this entry system. If you wish to request support from your Sports Union to cover the cost of your attendance, please click ‘Defer Payment’ and this will send them an invoice request (payment option only allowed for Scottish-based students).
PLEASE NOTE – you should talk to your Sports Union about financial support BEFORE you sign-up to this event. No entries will be accepted after the deadline unless they are involved in the waiting list.

Format and Rules: Format is 2 rounds of poules (group stage) followed by direct elimination based on seeding from the poules. Fencers will be randomly drawn and separated by club. All fencers will be promoted from the poules and both rounds will count towards the direct elimination seeding. Medals will be awarded to the top 4 in each weapon.

The format may be changed to account for changes in COVID-19 regulations or to increase the amount of fencing for those competing in weapons with lower entry numbers.

1115-1145 – Women’s Foil
1200-1230 – Women’s Epee

Sunday Check-In Times
1030-1100 – Men’s Foil
1115-1145 – Men’s Sabre
1215-1245 – Women’s Sabre

SSS Event COVID-19 Guidance: Please note, SSS will ask you to read this Disclaimer and complete this Self-Declaration Form before arrival at the event. In addition, all athletes must have a negative lateral flow test no older than 24 hours old and pass a temperature check on arrival before being allowed to compete.
Your participation is also subject to these Terms and Conditions, which state the protocols which will be followed on the day to keep you, and us, safe. The event will be carried out in accordance with the latest COVID-19 advice from the Scottish Government.

Unfortunately due to limitations on the number of people allowed in the hall, coaches and spectators will be limited. An announcement will be made closer to the event. An armourer will be on site to address equipment issues each day.
