Fencing Individual Championships

SS Fencing are delighted to return of the Individuals 2022-23! A fencing event open to any fencer currently studying at a SSS-affiliated university or further education college in Scotland.

Cost: £25 for one weapon and £32 for two weapons. Please note fencers cannot compete in BOTH Men’s Epee and Men’s Sabre OR both Women’s Epee and Women’s Sabre due to the logistics of the competition

Entry Eligibility: Open to any fencer currently studying at a SSS-affiliated university or college. Fencers must hold and in-date Starter, Recreational or Full Licence from British Fencing, and student card, which they must show at check-in. Please note fencers cannot compete in BOTH Men’s Epee and Men’s Sabre OR both Women’s Epee and Women’s Sabre due to the logistics of the competition

All participation is subject to the SSS Event Terms and Conditions

Entry Capacity: A waiting list will be in operation (please email scottishstudentfencing@hotmail.co.uk when you have signed up in order to confirm your entry) and extra capacity in other weapons may be allocated to oversubscribed weapons after the entry deadline

An armourer will be on site to address equipment issues each day.

Entry Deadline: Entries are now live on SSS Playwaze HERE. Entries will close on 4pm, Monday 13th March 2023

Entry Payment: You will be able to pay by card on this entry system. If you wish to request support from your Sports Union to cover the cost of your attendance, please click ‘Defer Payment’ and this will send them an invoice request (payment option only allowed for Scottish-based students).
PLEASE NOTE – you should talk to your Sports Union about financial support BEFORE you sign-up to this event. No entries will be accepted after the deadline unless they are involved in the waiting list.

Format and Rules: Format is 2 rounds of poules (group stage) followed by direct elimination based on seeding from the poules. Fencers will be randomly drawn and separated by club. All fencers will be promoted from the poules and both rounds will count towards the direct elimination seeding. Medals will be awarded to the top 4 in each weapon.

The format may be changed to increase the amount of fencing for those competing in weapons with lower entry numbers.

1145-1215 – Women’s Sabre

1230-1300 – Men’s Sabre

Please note that there is a train strike scheduled for 18th March therefore you may need to consider alternative transport options in order to arrive on time
