Scottish Student Sailing Fleet Racing Open 2023

SS Sailing are delighted to announce that this year’s Fleet Racing event will be an Open! We are welcoming entries from students at Scottish institutions, from non-Scottish institutions and those who are not students at all. Read on for more information!

Venue: Helensburgh Sailing Club (hosted by University of Strathclyde)

Date: Saturday 14th January to Sunday 15th January 2023

Eligibility: Sailors competent to the standard mentioned in the Notice of Race, specifically who have read and understood the Risk Statement, are eligible to enter. This event accepts both Student and Guest entries (all those who are not at a Scottish Institution will need to enter as a Guest).

The event is open to boats of all classes. However, the Organising Authority can refuse the entry of a boat if their handicap is not within a suitable range relative to the rest of the entries

Entry Capacity: Due to an unforeseen circumstance entry will now be limited to 30 Spaces.  Once 30 entries have been reached, an announcement will be made and any further entries will be added to a reserves list.  Entrants on the reserves list shall be granted entry to the event in the following cases:

1. if anyone on the official entry list withdraws prior to the event. This will be done on a first come first served basis

2. if the number of entrants on the entry list exceeds 4.

Important: Once it has been announced that the event is at capacity. Any further teams who wish to join the reserves list must contact Jake Miller (; Do not enter through playwaze as you will still be charged.

Timings: 0930-1700 each day, approximately

Cost: Double hander- £50, Single hander – £25

Entry Process: Entries will be taken online via the SSS Playwaze system (see our Step By Step Entry Guide on how to enter). Teams shall use the system to name a Captain who will be the main point of contact. Team members need to be named by 23:59 on Friday 6th January 2023.

Payment: You will be able to pay by card on this system.
STUDENT ENTRIES ONLY – If you wish to request support from your Sports Union to cover the cost of your attendance, please click ‘Defer Payment’ and this will send them an invoice request. PLEASE NOTE – you should talk to your Sports Union about financial support BEFORE you sign-up to this event

Entry Deadline: 23:59 on 6th January 2023 (Teams who enter team who enter before 23:59 on 20th December 2022 will be entered into a prize draw to have their entry fee fully refunded. Winner to be announced at 12:00 on 25th December 2022)
