SSS and Scottish Fencing sign new partnership agreement

SSS are thrilled to announce that a new partnership agreement has been signed with Scottish Fencing, ensuring a strategic approach to the development of student fencing.

Scottish Student Sport (SSS) have today announced a new partnership agreement with Scottish Fencing that will steer the growth of student fencing in key strategic areas.

Blair Cremin, Pathways Manager at Scottish Fencing, has highlighted the importance of this collaboration. He said:

“We are very happy at Scottish Fencing to strengthen our excellent relationship with Scottish Student Sport. We encourage all those in further education to participate in a sport or physical activity because of the evident benefits to physical, mental and emotional health. Moving into further education is the perfect time to continue the fencing journey; equally, for non-fencers, it is the perfect time to try something new and go along to your institutions’ fencing club. We look forward to continuing to work closely with SSS to provide opportunities for students from all backgrounds to enjoy our fantastic sport.”

This collaboration will ensure the continued development of student fencing in Scotland. The partnership will focus on developing the student workforce, supporting sustainable clubs and enhancing opportunities to participate and compete.

Matt Pocock, SS Fencing Chair, is looking forward to the future development of student fencing:

“I am very pleased with the signing of this partnership agreement between Scottish Fencing and Scottish Student Sport. The impact of COVID-19 has made 2020 a very difficult year for fencing in Scotland. I hope this partnership will not only aid student fencing’s recovery but make it the best it has ever been.”
