Women’s Sport Week – A Profile on Catriona McAllister
Day 3 – Wednesday October 5th 2016
We are delighted to be featuring a heavy hitter on the business side of sport today, Oriam CEO, Catriona McAllister. We hope that young women entering the job market will look at someone like Catriona and think that nothing is off limits to them.
As CEO Catriona is responsible for overseeing the construction and operation of Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre. This £33M facility is currently being constructed on the beautiful Heriot-Watt University Campus and will be the National Team Training Facility for Rugby, Football, Basketball, Handball and Squash. The centre will also develop and provide opportunities for students, staff and the community to participate in sport and physical activity. A key component of her role remains the management of student sport and developing opportunities for students and staff to participate in sport and exercise. Catriona’s background is in the strategic and operational management of sports facilities and in the development of sport. This has been gained within leisure trusts and the higher education sector.
Catriona has long been a leading figure in Scottish Student Sport as she helped shaped the SSS executive board when it was first brought together. She has been a passionate advocate of the development of sport in the student sector and it’s so great to see someone as smart and capable as Catriona at the head of one of Scotland’s largest sporting investments in recent years. We know Oriam is in good hands.
