First SSGolf Regional Series event sees home students come to the fore

Dunblane Golf Club was the host of the first South-East regional series participation event and it did not disappoint.

Dunblane Golf Club was the host of the first South-East regional series participation event on September 28th and it did not disappoint. Despite the poor weather conditions, the course managed to hold up for 48 participants (45 men and 3 women) which saw some excellent golf being played throughout the day.

The event welcomed participants from Stirling University; Abertay University; Herriot Watt; and Glasgow Caledonian, however the home advantage seemed to play a major role in the outcome of the event as Stirling University claimed a clean sweep of the prizes.

The overall handicap winner was Miles Gullstorm-Hughes. The fresher from Sweden displayed some fantastic golf and was able to overcome the weather conditions with a Nett 70 score. Congratulations Miles!

The winner of the Men’s scratch competition went to Ross Brydon, while the women’s scratch winner was Gemma Batty. Both Ross and Gemma managed to shoot level par on a day which demanded concentration and patience due to the freezing temperatures and the constant rain showers; excellent golf from the two Stirling students!

It was an overall highly successful competition and Stirling University would like to thank all the players who participated on the day, with special thanks to the Students from outside Stirling who made the trip to Dunblane GC. A list of all the winner on the day is below:
