Home Nations Returns in 2017
Tuesday 11th April will see the start of the first Home Nations event in 5 years! Scotland, Wales and England will compete in 3 sports to see who will be crowned the best in Great Britain.
After a five year hiatus, Home Nations is making a return and will be hosted at the University of Edinburgh between the 11th and 13th of April 2017. On home soil this time around, Team Scotland will be looking to build on the second place overall finish achieved in Nottingham in 2012.
This year’s competition will be contested against England and Wales across three sports, with men’s and women’s events in football, hockey and rugby 7s. The Scotland squads have been selected from across SSS’s membership with College students participating in the Home Nations for the first time.
Selection for SSS represents a significant achievement and is often the pinnacle moment in many student athletes’ sporting careers.
Stew Fowlie, SSS COO, said:
‘It is just fantastic to welcome this unique tournament back to Edinburgh, which has now hosted various forms of the event on a record six occasions. Representative sport is always a special experience and for the students coming from Scotland and beyond this will be an unforgettable opportunity to compete for their country with pride and distinction.’
