Men’s and Women’s Hockey Squads Announced for Home Nations

The Scottish Student Sport Hockey Representative Squads have been announced to compete at the Home Nations Event in Edinburgh.

The tournament, held on 11th – 13th April, will see both England and Wales University Representative Squads come to Edinburgh to play the Scottish Students in a variety of different sports. Hockey is part of this exciting event and will take place at Peffermill Playing Fields on the dates mentioned above.

The Men’s Representative Squad is led by University of St Andrews Director of Hockey Jamie Carnegie, who has this to say about his squad selection and the tournament:

“The standard of player that has put themselves forward for selection this year has been very high. It is great to see that players want to represent the Scottish Student Sport Representative team. We have a good group of players with mixed previous experiences ranging from Scotland Internationals (Jamie Wong and Lee Morton) down to guys that have never played Junior Internationals. It is a great chance for players to experience a very high level of competition in a good and fun environment.

MEN’S TEAM

The Ladies Representative Squad is led by University of Stirling Ladies Head Coach Siobhan Penman, who had this to say about her squad selection and the upcoming tournament:

“The standard of individuals who put themselves forward for selection this year was very high and made the selection process very difficult. I am looking forward to leading the squad into the tournament and I am confident that after our team training session on Wednesday 5th April, we will be ready for the competition. The standard of competition of this event should be very high, so it is a great opportunity for students to experience this in a competition setting.”
