Race to climb the West Regional Ladders
West Region launches ladders in Badminton and Football.

This semester we fully launched regional ladders as a new competition format to provide students with fun, participation focused opportunities to play sport for their institution.
This new competition format is designed to give more flexibility to competing teams with fixtures arranged via team challenges with the aim of climbing to the top of the ladder. Entries remain open throughout the year and new teams simply join at the bottom of the ladder making it a great development tool for institutions creating new teams and clubs.
The West has launched ladders in mixed badminton and men’s football with five institutions taking up the early opportunity to get involved. City of Glasgow College have set the pace so far reaching the top spot in badminton and the top two places in men’s football including a team made up of students from their Edusport Academy. Their challenge, however, will be to maintain their position at the top with challengers below ready to make their own moves up the ladders.
Andrew Kirk, Sport Coordinator at City of Glasgow College, said “with the limited number of BUCS teams we can enter, this is a great outlet for our students to get involved in a variety of sports, in a friendly environment. I would very much encourage other institutions to give us a challenge in the ladders system.”
There are two weeks left in the current fixture window before the ladders pause for the winter break and we’d encourage anyone who is considering entering the ladders next semester to get in touch now so that we can support you with getting the team ready.
