Conall Bryce Named Volunteer of the Semester for Winter 2021

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 2020/21 Volunteer of the Semester for semester two goes too… Conall Bryce (University of Aberdeen)! Read Conall’s story and his commitment to volunteering!

Congratulations to Conall Bryce (University of Aberdeen) who has been awarded the Volunteer of the Semester Award for semester two. The current Commodore (President) of Aberdeen’s sailing club, Conall ran a virtual Scottish Team Racing Championships, the only Scottish event for student sailors to take place this season. Through fundraising events and grant applications, Conall was also able to secure over £15,000 needed to update/purchase essential equipment (fleet of firefly dinghies, sails as well as new wetsuits and buoyancy aids) and keep club membership fees reasonable for future seasons to come. In addition, he spearheaded virtual ‘Learn to Sail’ events held throughout the academic year to ensure new, interested sailors were still able to take part in the student club.

On behalf of the SSS tribe, we would like to say a massive well done to Conall for all his efforts – keep up the great work!

Honourable mention to this semester’s other nominated student volunteers:

  • Tilda Harju (University of Strathclyde)
  • Fergus MacKenzie (University of Edinburgh)
