SSS and Basketball Scotland join forces to develop the student game

As part of an ongoing support to developing the game, Basketball Scotland have shown great support to student basketball in various different forms so far in the 16/17 season.
Workforce
We have just launched our basketball Reffin’ Brilliant courses. There has been real demand across the sector for more officials and SSS have worked with Basketball Scotland to put on courses at both the University of Dundee (28th and 29th January) and the University of Strathclyde (11th and 12th February). The course has been subsidised to ensure it is affordable for students, with the discounted price only £20 per student. More information about the course and sign up can be found here.
Participation & Competition
This season saw both the University of Abertay men’s and Edinburgh Napier University women’s teams promoted to BUCS Tier 1A as a result of winning their respective Tier 2 leagues in 2015/16.
As a result of ongoing partnership work between Scottish Student Sport and Basketball Scotland there is a development fund which has been utilised to support these two clubs as a reward for their achievements. This reward has been in the form of shot clocks, a match day necessity for Tier 1A that was not needed in Tier 2A. This has allowed them to continue to develop the club and compete in the top student league in Scotland.
