To play squash all you need is a ball, a racket, a friend and a wall.
Currently, there are 10 institutions currently competing in squash throughout Scotland. The BUCS Squash League for both Men and Women are contested over multiple weekends throughout the academic year in order to lower travel costs for teams and to create a better atmosphere for the tournament – with everyone competing in the same venue.
In an addition, there is an annual Scottish Student Squash Championships, consisting of a men’s, a women’s, and a beginner’s Championship to find the best student squash players in Scotland.

Heather joined Scottish Student Sport in 2019 and has played squash for over 10 years. She recently graduated from Edinburgh University with a masters in chemical engineering.
During her time at university, she held the Women’s captain position for two years and subsequently the presidency for the club. Both competing and managing the club has given Heather a view of both sides of the sport. Her squash career highlight is winning the BUCS individuals C draw in 2018 and seeing 4 of 6 teams reach their respective finals in BUCS during her year as president.
Staying fit and healthy is Heather’s main hobby and she believes squash is the perfect way to do that!
