Role Title: Women’s Basketball National Squad – Assistant Coach

Responsible to: SS Basketball Women’s Head Coach, SS Basketball Women’s Team Manager, Scottish Student Basketball Chair and SSS Head of Competitions

Where (Location): Various

Time commitment: Trials, Training Sessions and Games

Role duration: 1 academic year/season i.e. until June 2024. Potential to stand for the role
again the following year or another vacant position if applicable

We are searching for a volunteer to play a key role in the management of the Basketball National Squad 23/24 Programme. To provide a focus on ensuring a high-performance playing experience and development for the respective recruitment, coaching, training and playing programmes for National Squad players.

Main tasks:

• Help the Head Coach determine the selection policy for this year
• Support the delivery of Trials in partnership with Head Coach and Team Manager
• Work with Head Coach to determine final players to advance to training squad
• Be prepared to step in to support Head Coach as needed e.g. communicating with players and Team Manager
• Aid delivery in at least 2 training sessions alongside the Head Coach
• Help the Head Coach finalise the playing squad for each fixture
• Attend each fixture to support the squad
