Meet your Sports Chair

Emma Borthwick

Emma joined the Scottish Student Sport team in October 2017 taking on the role as Cycling chair. Before joining Scottish Student Sport Emma competed for her university in both BUCS and SSS cycling events and had previously competed internationally with the Scotland under 18s team.

Studying for a master in chemistry at the University of St Andrews, Emma combines studying with her role as Scottish Student Sport chair and has also held two committee positions within the University of St Andrews Cycling Club.

During her first year as Scottish Student Sport Cycling chair Emma boasted the series from one event in the 2016/17 academic year to 5 in the 2017/18 academic year, with a record number of students competing across the series.

For her outstanding contribution to student cycling over such a short period of time Emma received our prestigious Dr. Robin MacPherson Student Volunteer of the Year 2018.
