Edgar maintains lead through the storms as Goadby delivers round of the day

Day two of the 11th SSS/BUCS Dundonald Tournament saw very challenging weather conditions which tested the field to the limit. With the top 12 women and top 30 men making the cut at the end of the day, competition was fierce to secure a chance at earning valuable points towards Tour Finals qualification.

The second day of the 11th SSS/BUCS Dundonald Tournament saw very challenging weather conditions which tested the field to the limit. With the top 12 women and top 30 men making the cut at the end of the day, competition was fierce to secure a chance at earning valuable points towards Tour Finals qualification.

In the men’s competition, it was a Stirling player who again had the lowest score of the day, this time James Wilson (Stirling) shooting a 74 to move himself up the leaderboard and into 4th place heading into the final day. The leader after day 1, Colin Edgar (Stirling), shot a 77 to maintain both his place at the top of the leaderboard but also his two shot advantage over his nearest competitors. While Chris Maclean (Stirling) was not able to maintain the pressure on Edgar, Chris Low (Abertay) backed up his 73 with a 4 over 76 to move into second alongside Bjorn Bojesen (St. Andrews), who moved up from 3rd thanks to a solid Edgar-matching 77. With only three shots separating the top 6 golfers, it will be all to play for during tomorrow’s final round.

The women’s leaderboard was shaken up by the tough conditions and by the outstanding round of the day, Chloe Goadby (Stirling) shooting a two over 74 to move to the top of the standings, alongside first round leader Gemma Batty (Stirling). While Batty struggled early on, sitting at nine over after 8 holes, she played the remaining 10 holes to par to ensure that she is level with Goadby heading into the final day. Emma Hale (GCU) shot an 82 to stay in touch with the leaders, only 3 shots back at 12 over.

With snow forecast overnight and further showers scheduled for Tuesday, it is likely to be the players who manage the conditions the best that will emerge with the titles at the end of tomorrow.
